Donald R. Leners 51, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at his home, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor Anita Bane officiating. Visitation and viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until service time. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
Don is survived by his wife Stacy; children, Amanda Meier of Davenport, CoryLeners of Davenport, and MatthewLeners of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; step-children, Samantha Bobinet of Fort Dodge, Brock Bobinet of Rolfe, and Jacob Schultz of Fort Dodge; and brothers, Edward Leners of San Bernardino, CA, and Douglas Leners of Manson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Corliss and Norma Cook Leners.
Donald Robert Leners was born November 23, 1962 at Fort Dodge. He was raised in Rockwell City where he also attended Rockwell City Schools. In 1981, he served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1992. Don made his home in Fort Dodge, where he worked various jobs as a mechanic. On June 7, 2013 he was united in marriage to Stacy Skow. Don was a member of the V.F.W.
