Democracy works best when there are ample opportunities for dialogue between elected officials and those people they represent. With that in mind, the Legislative Committee of the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance and Iowa Central Community College have long jointly sponsored Eggs and Issues. This monthly breakfast time meeting takes place when the Iowa Legislature is in session. The goal is to offer a convenient forum at which legislators can explain what is happening in the state capital and area residents can both ask questions and express their views.
While the Legislature won't be meeting again until January, the advance planning is already underway. Consequently, the first Eggs and Issues Forum for the 2014 legislative session will be held Saturday at the Iowa Central East Campus (the building that was formerly Smithway Motor Xpress.)
The forum will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. It will be preceded by a social hour from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. A hot breakfast will be available for purchase.
Don't miss this important opportunity to communicate with some of the elected officials who will be key players in the upcoming session of the Legislature.
