An apparent burglary in progress was interrupted by Fort Dodge Police Friday morning, leading to the quick arrest of the suspect.
Carl D. Lambert Jr., 42, of Fort Dodge, is facing one count of third-degree burglary in connection with the incident, which was reported at 9:19 a.m. Friday.
At that time, Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody said officers received a call from what he described as a "concerned citizen" reporting a man inside a fenced-in area at 2120 Fourth Ave. S.
When officers arrived on scene, they found Lambert inside the fenced-in area.
"Evidence and information developed during the investigation indicate that several items were taken from inside a locked building located on the property," Carmody said.
Lambert was arrested and charged with burglary. He is expected to make his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court this morning.
Carmody said teamwork between witnesses and law enforcement led to the case being solved quickly.
"It is clear that the timely call by the witnesses and efficent response by officers interrupted a burglary and aided in the quick apprehension of the suspect," he said. "We very much appreciate the effort of the witnesses involved in this instance and encourage everyone involved in our community to report suspicious behavior."
