Authorities have cited the driver of a minivan that collided with a semitrailer Tuesday afternoon.
Niki Cooper, of Sheldon, was driving the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander van, traveling east to enter the eastbound on-ramp to U.S. Highway 20 at its intersection with U.S. Highway 169. After stopping at the stop sign, she reportedly failed to see the approaching semitrailer coming from the south and collided with the semi, according to a press release from the Iowa State Patrol.
Cooper and four passengers, Cody Cooper, Nic Bomgaars and Dominic Sievert, all of Sheldon, and Jake Roos, of Ashton, were transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center, treated and released, according to a press release from the Iowa State Patrol.
The driver of the semitrailer, Forrest Van Dorn, of Polk City, was not injured.
Cooper was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way, and failure to secure a child, ISP Trooper Blaine Kamp reported.
The accident remains under investigation. The Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Sheriff's Office and Fort Dodge Fire Department also responded to the scene.
