Dodgers set to host regional swim

The Fort Dodge girls swim team will host a regional swimming meet here on Saturdat.

Action begins at noon inside the Dodger pool.

Joining the Dodgers will be Algona, Ames, Ankeny, Mason City, Perry, Sioux City Metro, Spencer and Storm Lake.

Ames' Sara Bentley enters regionals as one of the state's top swimmers. Bentley's 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley is the top time coming in.

The 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 IM is the first, third and fourth best in the state, respectively.

In the 100 backstroke, Spencer's Taylor Sieperdea, and Ankeny's Xan Westercamp give the regional the top three times in Iowa.

Mason City's Crystal Florman has the second fastest time in the 50 freestyle and top regional time in the 100 freestyle.

Ames' Sydney Sorenson has the fourth fastest clocking in the 100 breaststroke.

Ames' 200 medley relay and its 400 freestyle relay are second and fourth fastest in the state, respectively.

Seniors Jenifer Bentz, Allie Boswell, Erika Farr, Alyssa Nehring, Shay Saathoff and Lauren Underwood will swim for the final time for the Dodger swimmers.
