A Fort Dodge teen who allegedly stabbed another teenager at a homecoming dance will stand trial starting in December.

Max A. Bly, 18, of Fort Dodge, will begin his trial in Webster County District Court on Dec. 17.

He pleaded not guilty to willful injury causing serious injury last week.

Bly is being held on $10,000 bond after he allegedly stabbed a Knierim teenager at the Fort Dodge Senior High homecoming dance on Oct. 5.

Around 10:50 p.m., Bly allegedly stabbed Lucas Fiala, 17, in the back with a "fold-in knife," according to the criminal complaint. Bly was arrested by Fort Dodge Police a short time later.

Fiala, a Manson Northwest Webster senior, was initially taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center before being flown to an undisclosed Des Moines hospital for treatment. The criminal complaint stated Fiala suffered from internal injuries.

Bly, who was 17 at the time of the incident, was charged as an adult with willful injury. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
