BLAIRSBURG - Len Thomas Draves, 57, of Blairsburg, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. A private graveside services was held on Friday October 25, 2013 at the Blairsburg Cemetery in Blairsburg. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
Len Thomas Draves, the son of Floyd and Wanda (Bryan) Draves was born on February 29, 1956 at the Story City Hospital in Story City, Iowa. Len graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School in Blairsburg, Iowa and later attended DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa. Len has resided on the family farm near Blairburg, Iowa since 1986. At an early age, Len started working at various jobs and later held varies crop insurance positions with the USDA. From 1986 until 1998 Len farmed the family farm. Len worked as a crop insurance agent for many years with the Condon Insurance Agency and later owned his own crop insurance agency, the LTD Crop Insurance Agency.
Len loved spending times with friends, taking road trips, John Deere equipment, Ford trucks and cars, western history and old western movies. He also loved all kinds of racing, guns, and eagle watching.
Len is survived by his sister, Michele Draves and many wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Wanda Draves; his grandparents; Ray and Nilla Bryan, Carl and Ruth Draves; and his aunt and uncle, Virgil and Nellie Bryan.
Memorials may be left to Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside, 401 NE 66th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50313 for benefit of Camp Sunnyside.
