AMES - In its final regular-season outing, the Fort Dodge volleyball team failed to get on track Tuesday night, dropping all three games against Ames.
Scores were 25-11, 25-15 and 25-22.
Lexi Astor (16 digs, 10 kills and two block assists), Ashley Altman (13-for-13 serving, five kills, three aces and two block assists), Tiana Mericle (five kills and two block assists), Maddie Egli (15 assists and 13 digs) and Mackenzie Elsbecker (9-for-10 serving and two aces) led the way for the Dodgers (12-24 overall, 1-2 in the CIC Northern Division).
"We had a lot of hitting errors (last night) and had a tough time getting shots to go our way against a very sound and scrappy Ames team that knows how to win," said FDSH head coach Tonia Burrell. "Lexi played well for us, though, and has been in a zone the last four games."
With the victory, the league-champion Little Cyclones improved to 21-13 and 3-0 on the season.
Fort Dodge will meet either defending state champion and No. 5 Charles City (36-6) or Decorah (9-24) in a Class 4A, Region 5 semifinal Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. in Charles City.
