To the editor:
The headline of The Messenger on Oct. 9 ("FD schools to review dance guest policies"), although accurate, certainly raises the eyebrows of anyone knowledgeable of the events at the Fort Dodge Senior High homecoming dance (Oct. 5).
It would have been instructive for Ms. Lane, the school district's director of communication, to answer why the district is seemingly blaming the victim, who was life-flighted to a Des Moines hospital where he currently lies in serious condition.
True, Fiala is not from FDHS, but there is no indication that he did anything that contributed to his being stabbed. Perhaps the headline should be, "FD schools not reviewing dance security policies despite recent stabbing." That would be accurate - and newsworthy.
