Not about to be outdone by the women, the Iowa Central men's soccer team turned in a dominant performance of its own here Sunday afternoon.
Posting their second shutout in as many days, the Tritons (8-4 overall, 4-2 in the ICCAC) topped Scott by an 8-0 count at Rogers Sports Complex.
Abelson Estimable produced two goals - his league-leading 12th and 13th of the season - for Iowa Central, while Michael Mayberry, Juan Espinal, Aaron Byrne, Matheus Macedo, Mitchell Conning and Dylan Kelly all notched one score. The Tritons jumped out to a 5-0 advantage at the intermission and never looked back.
"It was nice to see us get another clean sheet," said ICCC head coach Ben Taylor. "I thought we gave kind of a professional display out (on the field)."
Kelly and Conor McKenna both delivered a pair of assists for the Tritons, and Conning and Andres Parada each chipped in one helper.
"Kelly really deserved to get our last goal," Taylor said. "He's been performing very well of late."
Iowa Central, which managed seven shots on goal, has now blanked seven opponents on the year.
Freshman Triton defender Hugo Navarro was forced out of action midway through the first half with an apparent knee injury.
"This has been by far the worst season we've had (in the three years) since I've been (at ICCC) as far injuries go, which makes things so frustrating," said Taylor. "Before (Sunday), we've already had a broken leg, a torn meniscus and four concussions. We've never been at full strength, and we're not going to be, either, until next year."
With their fourth consecutive loss, the Eagles fell to 3-9 and 2-5 this season. Iowa Central and Scott will battle again in Bettendorf on Oct. 19.
Next game for the Tritons is Wednesday at Central Nebraska (6-1). Start time is set for 4 p.m. in Columbus, Neb.
