Gloria Christine Steinberg, 65, of Fort Dodge passed away on Friday September 27, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 1, 2013 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with burial following at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Gloria was born in Fort Dodge on December 16, 1947 to Robert and Willa VanGundy. She was baptized in the Methodist Church. She grew up and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and then continued her education at Iowa State University. She married Richard Eugene Steinberg on July 16, 1983 in Fort Dodge. She was the owner of Glory Flag & Pole Company for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was a member of a neighborhood group that was involved in a number of community activities with helping others. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and an avid collector; she enjoyed bird watching, flowers and her vegetable garden.
Gloria is survived by her husband Richard; her son Rian (Kendra) Steinberg of Fort Dodge; grandchildren Shane Wessels, KaiaWessles, Nolan Eager and Reid Steinberg; her brothers Dean VanGundy of Waukee, IA and Kent (Donna) VanGundy of Minneapolis, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Syphers; her parents Robert and Willa VanGundy and her brother Mark VanGundy.
