FONDA - Thomas Eisenhauer, age 89, of Claremore, Oklahoma, formally of Fonda, died August 20, 2013 in Claremore at the Veteran's Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 26, 2013 at 10:30 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell, Iowa. Burial will be at the Pocahontas Public Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Henry Eisenhauer was born June 3, 1924 in Pocahontas, Iowa, the son of John and Grace (Eaton) Eisenhauer.

Growing up, Tom attended school in Pocahontas where he later graduated.

On December 22, 1943, Tom entered the United States Navy where he served his country during World War II as a 2nd Class gunner mate until he was honorably discharged on April 25, 1946.

In December 1945, Tom was united in marriage to Alois JoAnn Omtvedt at the Varina Methodist Church. They lived near Newell were Tom farmed and while there they were blessed with four children, Duane Dean, Gary Thomas, Sharan Kay, and Kenton Arthur.

In December of 1976, Alois and Tom moved to the Omtvedt family farm. After his wife's passing he was united in marriage to Alice Quick of Fort Dodge, Iowa on December 6, 1996. They continued to live on the farm until Tom's stroke relocated him to Claremore, Oklahoma on April 28, 2012. He remained there at the Claremore Veterans nursing home until his death.

Tom was a member of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church and served on the Varina Methodist Church Board. He was active in his community as the 4-H leader of the Newell Boosters Club and a member of the Buena Vista 4-H fair board. Tom belonged to the American Legion in Newell and the VFW of Pocahontas.

Tom treasured the time he spent with his family. When he was not spending time with his loved ones, you could find him making conversation with just about anybody. Tom also enjoyed fishing and dancing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Alice Eisenhauer of Fort Dodge, Iowa; children: Gary (Joyce) Eisenhauer of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Sharan (Gregg) Erick of Dickens, Iowa; Kenton (Casandra) Eisenhauer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Leslee Simons Eisenhauer Oziah of O'Fallon, Missouri; stepson, Tim Quick of Fort Dodge, Iowa; grandchildren: Tracey (Rod) Brooks of Wolcott, Indiana; Michelle Bowman of Libanon, Indiana; Jared (Michelle) Eisenhauer of Newton, Iowa; Bobbie Jo (Mark) Bohls of Chesapeake, Virginia; Darrick Erick of Mankato, Minnesota; Afton (Brian) Hunziker of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Lila Eisenhauer of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Heidi (Billy) White of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Jeremiah (Shauntel) Eisenhauer of Chesapeake, Virginia; Megan Eisenhauer of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren: Kenzi Ann Brooks, Ian Duane Brooks, Samantha Marie Bownan, Jaland Dean Bownan, JoLee Elene Bownan, Mason Wayne Eisenhauer, Serenity Justice Bohls, Honour Jaiden Bohls, Felicity Nevaeh Bohls, and Nikki Sky White; extended family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Alois Omtvedt Eisenhauer; parents, John and Grace Eisenhauer; and son, Duane Eisenhauer.
