To the editor:
USA communities are in need of adequate solutions to our immigration laws now. Most of us, including myself, personally know several hard-working immigrants and have friends among them.
It's hurting small communities in my state, Iowa, and in our country as well, to label our local community workers as people who are intentionally breaking the law.
I support the Senate's Gang of Eight bill because it has some helpful solutions. Rounding up 11 million people or asking them to go back to their country would end reasonably priced foods and other goods. Many of us would lose some very good neighbors and friends.
That's why Congress must vote now for an immigration bill that offers immigrant workers their choice of a path to citizenship or a legal work permit.
Our loyal immigrant workers must be protected to the full extent of the law from being exploited or abused.
