Fort Dodge's first junior golf championship took place at the Country Club on Tuesday, with champions crowned in two divisions.

The event, sponsored by Carpet World Flooring America, drew players in the 13-14 and 15-18 age brackets.

St. Edmond senior-to-be Eddie Doyle, age 17, fired a two-under par 69 to claim top honors in the older boys' age group. Sixteen-year-old Gael teammates Michael Faiferlick and Robert Flattery tied for runner-up honors at 77; Faiferlick won a playoff to secure second place.

Charlie Doyle, 14, claimed the boys 13-14 title with a round of 81. Thirteen-year-old Andrew Gibb was second with a 90.

The event will likely expand to two days and two locations in 2014, with Lakeside joining the FDCC as a host site.
