ROCKWELL CITY - A man accused of shooting another man over the weekend was ordered held on bond at his initial appearance Monday morning.
Robert Turner, 44, of Rockwell City, had his $25,000 bond continued, according to Calhoun County Attorney Tina Meth-Farrington. She added that Turner's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 12.
Turner is facing an attempted murder charge after an incident from Sunday morning. Rockwell City police officers responded to a home on Fourth Street after receiving a call about gunshots, according to a statement from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department.
When they arrived, they found a 29-year-old Rockwell City man suffering from two gunshot wounds. He was first taken to Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City before being transferred to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. His injuries were described in the statement as "non-life threatening."
Meth-Farrington said Monday afternoon that she had spoken with the victim's family, who reported the man was in stable condition.
Turner was arrested and charged with attempted murder the same day as the shooting.
The shooting remains under investigation.
