Rev. Kenneth B. Fogelman was born November 29, 1919 to Rev. Lester Lavern and Mary Margaret Fogelman on a farm near Paullina, Iowa. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the age of 93 years and 8 months, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Lighthouse Ministries, located at 1333 4th Avenue North in Fort Dodge. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Lighthouse Ministries. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth graduated from North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota in May of 1940. He began his ministry pastoring an Assembly of God church in Marcine, Missouri in 1942. He later pastored in Linn Grove, Iowa. In 1946, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Wood. Together they pastored churches in Emmetsburg, Estherville, Boone, Waterloo and Fort Dodge. In 1970, they founded Lighthouse Ministries in Fort Dodge. Rev. Fogelman served as Senior Pastor until June of 2008, when his son-in-law, Rev. John Elkin, took over his duties.
Rev. Fogelman loved the Lord with all his heart and spent his entire life ministering to anyone in need. He is survived by one son, David and Heather Fogelman; six daughters, Wanda and David Lovell, Connie and Rev. John Elkin, LaVonne and Monte Pringle, Carole and Kevin Panzi, Janice and Jeff Johnson and Vickie and Matt Reeck; 21 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and his special friend, Georgia Jacobson. He was able to stay in his home until the time of his passing thanks to his very special caregivers, Patty Worthen, Whitney Elkin and Brittany Elkin. We are forever grateful for all of the love and care they provided to him during his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Marilyn; his son, John Philip Fogelman; his daughter, Gale Annette Fogelman; his grandson, Benjamin Jeffrey Johnson; his brother, Gerald Fogelman; and his sister, Laurine Prosser.
