Bulldogs into semifinals

Behind a complete game shutout from Mandi Moore, No. 3 Ottumwa posted a 2-0 victory over 10th-ranked Cedar Rapids Jefferson in a Class 5A quarterfinal Tuesday.

Moore (20-5) fired a four-hitter, walking none and striking out six.

Olivia Roark and Kassidi Henderson each tallied a pair of hits for the Bulldogs (37-6 overall), who pushed their winning streak to six straight games. Katie Sammons and Alexis Winn added a RBI apiece, while Sammons and Chloe Davis both crossed the plate.

Dani Stromert and Maddie Hansen each finished 2-for-3 for the J-Hawks, who are making their 20th all-time state appearance.

Ottumwa will now play No. 5 Johnston in a 5A semifinal Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on Diamond 2.

Cedar Rapids Jefferson will try to bounce back against eighth-ranked West Des Moines Valley (26-15) in the 5A consolation round today at noon on Veterans Diamond.
