A man was arrested after setting some objects on fire in a Fort Dodge apartment Friday morning, police reported.
Kevin D. Crouse, 44, of Fort Dodge, was charged with first-degree arson and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Fort Dodge Police Department. He remained in the Webster County Jail Friday evening.
Crouse was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia because some pipes used to smoke illegal drugs were found, police Lt. Dennis Mernka said.
The arson incident was discovered when police were called to 1316 1/2 Sixth Ave. S. at 8:43 a.m. to remove a man from the property.
When officers arrived there, Kristina Bockoven, 42, told them that Crouse, her ex-boyfriend, had just left the apartment, according to police reports. She also said that he had set several objects on fire in the apartment.
Officers discovered several plants and pots, a fan and a lamp shade had been burned. They also found that the wall inside the shower had been burned.
Mernka said nothing was on fire when officers arrived. He added that no one was hurt in the incident.
An investigation involving both the police and fire departments was launched.
Fire Department Lt. Jeff Hill said fire damage to the apartment was minimal.
Police reported that a civil no-contact order was in effect between Crouse and Bockoven.
