A Fort Dodge man accused of sexually abusing a child has pleaded not guilty to the charge and had his trial scheduled.

Christopher T. Edwards, 35, of Fort Dodge, is scheduled to stand trial in Fort Dodge beginning Aug. 27 after pleading not guilty on Wednesday.

Edwards has been charged with second-degree sexual abuse, which is a Class B forcible felony.

He's accused of sexually abusing a girl who was described as being "under the age of 12" in court documents filed with the Webster County attorney's office.

It's alleged that the abuse happened on Feb. 20 as the victim was in her bed.

Edwards is being held in the Webster County Jail on $25,000 bond.

At the time of his initial appearance, Edwards was also charged with violating his parole. The parole revocation warrant indicated Edwards' original conviction was for possession of marijuana, third or subsequent offense.

That case was sent to District Court, where it will be scheduled for a hearing in front of the parole board.

In addition to Edwards' trial, Judge Kurt Stoebe also scheduled a bond review for July 22.

Edwards also has a no-contact order between him and the victim, as well as her family.
