CLARION - Closing out its regular season on a high note, the No. 6 (Class 2A) St. Edmond softball team rolled to a 13-0 five-inning victory over Clarion-Goldfield Friday night.
Jaci Stumpf went 2-for-4 offensively with a pair of RBI for the Gaels (23-8 overall, 15-3 in the North Central Conference).
Katie Donnelly, Amanda Lansman and Katy Bocken all drove in two runs for SEHS as well. The Gaels, who took advantage of seven Cowgirl errors, plated scores in four different frames, including an eight-spot in the fifth.
"Our girls were ready to play (Friday), and we had a good game all the way around," said St. Edmond head coach Paul Hunt. "We really executed on the basepaths."
Donnelly (15-6) also fired a one-hitter in the complete game win, fanning nine.
"Katie went right after the hitters and threw a great game," Hunt said. "It was real nice to pick up some momentum before regional play."
