Police investigate early morning shooting

Fort Dodge police are investigating the early Friday morning shooting of a teenager who was injured in the leg.

Assistant Police Chief Kevin Doty said officers responded to Trinity Regional Medical Center at 2:45 a.m. for a 16-year-old who had been shot.

Doty said the teenager, whose name has not been released, was treated for a non-life threatening injury and was kept for observation at the hospital.

The victim told police he was near the 900 block of Ninth Ave. S.W. when he was shot.
