The St. Edmond baseball team finally got the ball to bounce in their direction Wednesday night.
Just minutes before the Fourth of July celebration went off, the Gaels earned a 3-2 victory in eight innings over Algona at Rogers Park on Senior Night.
Tommy Setterdahl, one of five seniors on the roster, scored the game-winning run on a passed ball after St. Edmond (13-12 overall, 8-7 in North Central Conference) rallied with single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth.

Hank Crimmins picked up the win in relief of Matthew Bocken, who recorded five strikeouts over five-plus innings pitched.
"We've had so many situations go against us late that it's great for these kids mentally to finally have one go their way," SEHS head coach Joe Shanks said. "We had a great chance there in the seventh to win it, but we couldn't get that next hit.
"Still, we needed a game like this to go our way and it feels great."

In the seventh, the Gaels loaded the bases with just one out, but Clay Collison was able to record back-to-back strikeouts and get out of the jam. Collison picked up the loss for Algona (10-15, 4-10) in relief of Austin Long.
Setterdahl started off the eighth with a walk, moving to second on a sacrifice bunt by Robert Flattery. He advanced to third on a passed ball before scoring on another to give St. Edmond a season sweep over the Bulldogs.
"We found a way to battle back, and that shows that these kids continue to believe," Shanks said. "We are back above .500 now overall and in the league, and that should give them some added confidence to close out the regular season."
Tyler Frideres led the Bulldogs with a pair of steals, while Collison added a double. Brandon Lloyd, who has family that lives in Fort Dodge, made a pair of spectacular plays while manning third base.
St. Edmond returns to action Friday at Clarion-Goldfield before hosting Hampton-Dumont Monday in the regular season finale. The Gaels open Class 2A district play July 13 in Story City vs. Eagle Grove.
Setterdahl, David Flattery, Aaron Chalstrom, Brady Reiling and Jordan Slotten were all honored before the game as seniors.
Algona still has seven games left to play before beginning 3A postseason play on July 19 in Spencer against top-ranked Sioux City Heelan.
