Children's author Tamera Wissinger will present her new book "Gone Fishing" at a 1:30 p.m. event Saturday at Book World, Crossroads Mall. There will be snacks, activities for kids and their families, and a short reading at 2 p.m.

"Gone Fishing" is a middle-grade novel in verse about the excitement of a fishing trip and the annoyance of little sisters. The book uses a variety of poetic forms from acrostic to quatrain, and includes a "poet's tackle box" at the end to help aspiring young poets.

Wissinger was born in Fort Dodge, grew up in Badger, and currently lives with her husband in Vero Beach, Fla. She earned her bachelor's degree in English from Sioux Falls College, and her master of fine arts degree in writing from Hamline University. "Gone Fishing" is her first book, and was published in March.
