Helen Andersen, 93, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 14, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. A time of gathering for family and friends will be from 10:30 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
Helen is survived by her son, Richard and his wife, Cynthia, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Dianna Andersen, Chanhassen, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Lee, Katie, and Tom and one great grandchild, Keatyn. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, son Ronald in 1999, her parents, her two sisters, Lucia Jerdy and Ruth Christensen, and also her brother, Richard Kehm.
Helen Caroline Kehm, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Stumpfhaus) Kehm, was born February 6, 1920 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1937 and later attended Fort Dodge Business College. On June 30, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ernest Andersen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. After their marriage the couple made Fort Dodge their home. Helen worked for the Fort Dodge Telephone Company during the war and later she worked for The Messenger. Ernest passed away on November 5, 2002.
Helen was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a member of the Friends of the Library.
