Fort Dodge native Kevin Ault will be back again to defend his title at the Lakeside Amateur men's golf tournament here Sunday.
Ault is among the nearly 100 players signed up for the annual event, which will begin at 8 a.m. this morning - weather permitting. Tee times will run until noon, with the championship flight scheduled to begin around 5 p.m.
Last year, Ault - a six-time champion here and the winner of the last two Lakeside Amateurs - defeated fellow Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Jeff Peterson by two strokes with a one-over par 109 total for the 27-hole tournament. Ault carded a three-under 33 during the championship nine, including birdies on three of the final five holes to prevail.
Temperatures are expected to be in the mid- to upper-60s on Sunday, but the potential for rain could create issues during the afternoon hours.
Lakeside is a par-72 layout.
