The Rev. Aaron Lee Hudson, a deacon in the Episcopal Church since his ordination on December 14 of last year, will be ordained a priest at 4 p.m. June 15 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1007 First Ave. S. A reception will follow.
Hudson left for seminary three years ago with his certified professional therapy dog, Clara. Together, they have been living in Austin Texas, attending the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, where he graduated with a Masters of Divinity Degree on May 14. During Hudson's three year seminary career, he has served as a campus minister at the University of Texas, with Clara taking an active role in his ministry to the students, faculty and staff.
Following his graduation and ordination, Aaron will be a chaplain at the Parish Episcopal School of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas, Texas. He will serve as the chaplain to grades 3 and 4 and also teach school health and anatomy/physiology in the upper grades of the school.
A native of Lyon, Hudson is a board certified psychiatric and mental health nurse and substance abuse counselor. Before entering seminary, his last job was with Community Family Resources in Fort Dodge, where he supervised the treatment of persons with psychiatric and substance abuse issue. Additionally, he taught undergraduate psychiatric nursing at Iowa Central Community College.
