CARROLL - The St. Edmond softball team had no trouble staying unbeaten Saturday, earning a 7-0 shutout over Spalding Catholic in the CYO Tournament.
Maggie Harvey and Amanda Lansman each went 3-for-4 offensively for the No. 6 (Class 2A) Gaels (5-0 overall). Harvey contributed an inside-the-park home run, while Lansman helped her own cause with a double and two RBI.
Lansman (2-0) went the distance in the win, allowing five hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts.
"Amanda has yet to give up a run in 12 varsity innings this summer, which is really exciting to see," said SEHS head coach Paul Hunt. "Our defense also did a great job all the way around (yesterday), and we had a lot of hard hit balls (the Gaels racked up 11 hits)."
SEHS, which played errorless softball, tallied one run in the second, two in the third and four more in the sixth.
With the loss, the Spartans fell to 0-6.
The Gaels return to action here today, facing Remsen St. Mary's at 12:30 p.m.
