LeRoy J. Fowler, 91, of Fort Dodge, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Private family services will be held at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at the North Lawn Cemetery.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Evelyn; three children, Kay (Roger) Lalor of Crosby, TX, Dean (Regina) Fowler of Fort Dodge and Debra Crabtree of Temple, TX; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Gilbert of Webster City. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Florence Finck, Laura Westlake and Rhada Carlson; and also a brother, Delbert Fowler.
LeRoy J. Fowler, the son of George and Pearl (Hair) Fowler, was born November 25, 1921 in Fort Dodge. On November 19, 1941, LeRoy married Evelyn Young in Tenny, MN. LeRoy serviced in the United States Army during WWII from September 12, 1942 until December 23, 1945. After his honorable discharge LeRoy and Evelyn made their home in Fort Dodge for 67 years. LeRoy spent his working years in the trucking industry. Including 11 years holding the position of Driving Instructor at Iowa Central Community College before retiring.
LeRoy was an auto racing fan and a long time fan of Twins Baseball and the Viking Football teams. But his real enjoyment was the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
