FORT MEYERS BEACH, Fla. - Robert G. Lenertz, 73, of Fort Myers Beach, FL, formerly of Davenport, IA died peacefully May 14, 2013 in Davenport. Following his wishes cremation rites have been accorded.

Bob was born on March 3, 1940, the son of Alvin J, and Lucille R. (Marso) Lenertz. He was raised near Livermore, IA and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Bode, IA in May of 1958. Bob entered the freshman class at Buena Vista College (University), Storm Lake, IA in the fall of 1958 and graduated in February, 1962, with a degree in Business Administration. He was employed as a trainee Examiner with the State of Iowa, Department of Banking. He continued as an examiner (with the exception of being drafted in the U.S. Army for 2 years), until April 1, 1973. He left as a Senior Examiner in the Davenport district. On April 2, 1973 he joined Davenport Bank and Trust Company as a Vice President in Commercial Loans. He was later promoted to Senior Vice President, elected to the Board of Directors in February 1983 and to the Executive Committee. On September 15, 1989 he resigned from Davenport Bank and negotiated the purchase of The State Bank of Annawan, Annawan, IL, for which he received Regulatory approval and purchased on February 14, 1990. He served as Director, President and CEO until April 2, 2007, when the bank was purchased by Bank Orion, Orion, IL. During his 45+ year banking career, Bob was also involved in several area banks.

Bob served in the U. S. Army from April 10, 1963 to April 9, 1965, as a Combat Medical Specialist with the 78th Arty, 2nd Armored Division, Ft. Hood, TX. He also spent time in Germany.

Bob was a member of the American Legion, Livermore, IA, the Knights of Columbus and the Outing Club, Davenport, IA, and The Church of the Ascension, Fort Myers Beach, FL and St. Paul the Apostle, Davenport. He was past President of Scott County Banker's Association, Board Member of Mercy Hospital; Trustee of Marycrest College. He was also a member of the Davenport Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce.

Bob always lived by his motto, "the glass is half full, not half empty".

On October 15, 1965, Bob and Roberta "Bobbie" O'Donnell were married at St. James Catholic Church, Forest City, Iowa. They had three daughters: Teresa "Teri" (Keith) Glover, Sachse, TX, Lisa (Randy) Pinkerton, Grinnell, Iowa, and Maria (Douglas) Brunelle, of Garland, TX. Roberta "Bobbie" passed away on February 26, 1986, after a long fight with cancer.

Alyce (Seider) Van Camp lost her husband, Anthony "Tony" on March 16, 1986, after an extended illness. They had three children, Anthony A. Van Camp II (Shelley), Davenport, Iowa, Angelita (Gregory, deceased) Stahler, Garland, Texas and Michelle "Moo" (Mark) Schiltz, Davenport, Iowa.

Robert G. Lenertz and Alyce K. Van Camp were married on April 4, 1987, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport, Iowa.

Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years Alyce, six children, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Kay (Donald) Henry, Sisseton, SD and Sharon Sue (Roger) Koehler, Rudd, Iowa as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob wanted to thank his family, his many friends and most especially his loving wife Alyce who even up to the end took care of him 24/7 and gave up so many things to do so. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff of Genesis VNA and Bob's physicians.

The family will greet friends today (Thursday) May 16, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Private family burial will be held in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport; with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 26. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 17th at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 916 East Rusholme Street, Davenport. There will be additional time to greet the family Friday in the Gathering Space at the church from 10:00 until time of services.
