AMES - The Fort Dodge girls tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to four-time defending state champion Ames in the first round of Class 2A regionals on Saturday.

"We had some opportunities, but we just couldn't turn out any wins," said FDSH head coach Karine Feddersen. "I'm looking forward to seeing us get warmed up and ready now for individiual regionals (individual regionals will be held Thursday in Fort Dodge)."

Next action for the Dodgers (5-4 overall) is Monday when they travel to Sioux City for a triangular with Sioux City North and Sioux City West. Start time is set for 3:15 p.m.
