Humboldt edges SE boys in golf

Doyle fires meet-best 34

The Humboldt boys golf team topped St. Edmond and Eagle Grove in a North Central Conference triangular on Tuesday.

The Wildcats carded a 150, followed by the Gaels (151) and Eagles (177).

Jaxon Heinz (37) was the runner-up for Humboldt. Brenden Schnell (37), Christian Birdsell (38) and Austen Gargano (38) rounded out the Wildcat scorecard.

Eddie Doyle (34) took home medalist honors for St. Edmond. Michael Faiferlick (37), Harrison Mayer (39), Robert Flattery (41), Cal Coleman (43) and Colten Lastine (49) were next in line for the Gaels.

"I was very proud of Eddie and Michael for shooting so well," said SEHS head coach Dan Streit. "We're pretty evenly matched with Humboldt. The conference meet next Monday will be a heck of a meet."

Brian Yackle (43), Jacob Grandgeorge (44), Jake Wilde (44) and Brenton Pohlman (46) represented Eagle Grove.

In junior varsity action, Humboldt (164), Eagle Grove (213) and St. Edmond (231) were first, second and third.

Next outing for the Gaels is Thursday in a makeup NCC meet at Webster City.
