HAMPTON - Despite another strong performance, the St. Edmond boys track team settled for a runner-up performance at the Hampton-Dumont Invitational Friday night.
The Gaels tallied 103.5 points. Charles City (116.5) was the winner.
Hank Lentsch was a double individual champion for SEHS in the high jump (6-0) and 110-hurdles (15.29). Lentsch actually set a new school record in the 110-hurdles.
Other Gael winners were Seth Reel (1600, 4:39.00), the medley relay (T.J. O'Tool, Devin Camamo, Cory Angstrom and Reel, 3:48.00) and the shuttle hurdle (Angstrom, Matthew Bocken, Tristan Sitzmann and Lentsch, 1:02.12).
Reel also placed second in the 3200 (10:00.50), while the 4x800 (Landon Peed, Nick Johnson, Jacob Hamilton and O'Tool, 8:52.60) and Angstrom (200) were both third.
"This was the third time we've finished second this year, and the last two times it came down to the last two events," said Gael head coach Bill Kibby. "We had a lot of (personal records) and ran really well. Hank, Seth and Cory each had good nights."
Next outing for St. Edmond is Tuesday at the Boone Invitational. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
