The Iowa Central softball team managed to split an ICCAC twinbill with Iowa Lakes Wednesday at Rogers Sports Complex.
After dropping an 11-7 decision in the opener, the Tritons (13-27 overall, 3-15 in the league) rebounded with an 8-1 victory in game two.
Nicole Dobernecker, Sammie Hildreth, Morgan Fisher and Kelsey Penneau each collected a pair of hits in the first contest. Dobernecker and Jami Koethe both went deep, while Hildreth doubled. Iowa Central fell behind by five runs in the first inning and failed to recover.
Mackenzie VanDenBerg took the loss in the circle.
In the nightcap, Chelsy Krantz and Katie Newbury each tallied three hits. Fisher and Hildreth added two hits apiece. Hildreth also homered.
Picking up the win in relief was Paige Prokop, who allowed no runs - with six strikeouts - over four innings.
The Tritons outhit the Lakers (9-19, 4-14) in the doubleheader, 23-16.
Iowa Central visits North Iowa Area today. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. in Mason City.
