In a pair of tightly contested games, the Iowa Central baseball team settled for a split against Div. I foe Indian Hills Wednesday at Ed Barbour Field.
Following a 5-4 defeat in the opener, the 20th-ranked (NJCAA Div. II) Tritons (26-11 overall) escaped with a 5-4 eight-inning victory in the nightcap.
Dawson Porter went a perfect 2-for-2 offensively with a home run, double and three RBI in game one for Iowa Central.
Justin Threlkeld finished 3-for-4 with two RBI in the finale. Porter also went deep and drove in a pair, while Dalton Parrott scored twice.
Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Luke Vandermaten (4-1) recorded the win in relief. The Tritons outhit Indian Hills (22-15) in the doubleheader, 17-14.
Iowa Central hosts Marshalltown (16-15) here today. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
