Proposed street improvement projects and a plan to make it easier to get permission to set up a sidewalk cafe in downtown Fort Dodge are on the agenda for the City Council on Monday.
The council meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., with a workshop discussion on the possibility of buying some software that would enable the Public Works Department to televise and clean more sewers.
The workshop will be followed by a closed door session regarding negotiations between the city and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 61. That union represents public works, parks and library employees.
The regular council business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building.
During that meeting, the elected officials will consider giving preliminary approval to the rule changes affecting sidewalk cafes.
They will also consider approving the second reading of a measure establishing the 2013 Consolidated Urban Revitalization Area. Implementing that proposal will provide property tax incentives for the construction of new housing.
Following the business meeting, there will be a workshop discussion at which City Engineer Chad Schaeffer will present proposed street projects for this year.
