ALGONA - The First Presbyterian Church Choir will present its annual spring concert, "Sing and Shout, God is Good," at 3 p.m. April 28 in the sanctuary of the church, 101 N. Main St., Algona.
Walt Reemtsma, director of music at the church, described the upcoming program as "a unique blend of old hymns, familiar praise songs, and new anthems that have been especially selected for this musical program to help remind us once again of the many blessings that God shares with us on a daily basis. As has been true in the past, it is the choir's prayer that at least one life will be touched and drawn closer to God as they leave the program. We trust that many will leave the church with a new song in their heart."
The Rev. Loren Shellabarger will serve as narrator and solos will be shared by Jason Etherington, Norma Ruhnke, Grace Freeburg and Edna Yocum as the choir presents vocal accompaniment. The choir will be accompanied by Bev Mawdsley on the organ and Reemtsma on the piano.
A freewill offering, to be used to defray expenses associated with the concert, will be taken during intermission.
"The choir is very appreciative of the financial gifts given to the choir in past concerts as it has helped the choir to purchase a new microphone and speakers resulting in significant improvement in overall sound quality," said Reemtsma.
Refreshment and fellowship will follow the concert in the church parlors.
