ROCHESTER, Minn. - Snapping an 11-game losing streak, the Iowa Central softball team swept a doubleheader from Rochester Tech Friday afternoon.
The Tritons (11-21 overall) prevailed by scores of 8-0 and 13-2.
In game one, Iowa Central tallied two runs in the second inning and six more in the third.
Mackenzie VanDenBerg (2-9) went the distance in the shutout, allowing just two hits and one walk. She also helped her own cause with a home run.
Sammie Hildreth went deep twice and doubled on the day as well for the Tritons, while Chelsy Krantz (Fort Dodge) added a longball of her own.
Kaitlynn Morrison (1-2) posted her first win of the year in the nightcap. Iowa Central committed only one error in the twinbill.
Next outing for the Tritons is Monday at Central JV. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. in Pella.
