The Eighth District of The American Legion, Sons of The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will host their annual spring conferences on Sunday in Dedham.
All members of The American Legion Family are welcome, as are veterans and family members of veterans who want to know more about the largest veterans' service organization in the nation.
"The American Legion of Iowa, over 55,000 members strong, is divided into nine districts throughout the state," said Department (State) Commander Lyle Schaffer. "Aside from the state convention, this is one of the most important meetings our members can attend."
The spring conference is being hosted by Legion Post No. 20, SAL Squadron No. 20, and Auxiliary Unit No. 20 of Dedham. All meetings will be held at the Dedham American Legion, 302 Main St. During the lunch hour, a joint banquet will be held in which members from the region will hear from Schaffer, Auxiliary Department President Mary Littrell and SAL Detachment (State) Commander Mike Blanchard about the progress made on legislative, community and children/youth programs.
"The American Legion of Iowa is involved in many areas that are of concern to every community in Iowa," said Schaffer.
