HUMBOLDT - The Humboldt City Council set June 3 as the date for a public hearing on the reclassification of Drainage District 13A in Humboldt Monday.
Drainage Engineer Rick Hopper of Jacobson-Westergard & Associates, Estherville, said the project is tied to other work in DD 80 North and South, which is the responsibility of the county.
Hopper said the assessments can be stretched out over as long as 20 years and it was up to the council to determine the interest rate but it looks like it will be around 6 percent.
At the request of Councilman Joe Hadar and Mayor Walter Jensen, Hopper will have a breakdown of the costs, which he estimates at $1.25 million, at the hearing.
