Town & Country seeks projects

IMT will offer $500 grants to benefit communities

Town & Country Insurance and IMT Group are searching for nonprofit organizations to receive grants for their projects.

IMT Group annually awards 15 $500 grants to community groups throughout Iowa, said Bennett O'Connor, of the Fort Dodge Town & Country office.

While other insurance companies also offer community grants, many of them have specific niches, O'Connor said.

"The cool thing about (the IMT grant) is that they are very general," he said.

The only requirements for applicants is that the group submitting the application must be a nonprofit and the project must be considered beneficial to the community.

"If you've got some sort of project, and you're in need of funds," O'Connor said he would encourage a group to apply, regardless of what the nonprofit does, since past grant applications have been received for everything from service organizations to neighborhood groups.

In recent years, winners have been chosen from Fort Dodge and the surrounding area, O'Connor said.

"We're hoping that we get lucky and that somebody in the community gets picked. There have been multiple grants that have been given within the same community," he said.

In fact, one year IMT gave out 17 awards instead of 15 because the company felt the applicants were so deserving, O'Connor said.

To enter the community grant contest, applicants can pick up forms at Town & Country Insurance offices at 3031 Fifth Ave. S., Fort Dodge; 409 Second St., Webster City; 323 S. Commercial, Eagle Grove; 220 N. Main St., Clarion; or 609 Broad St., Story City.

All entries must be received by Town & Country by June 7.
