Pauline C. Stewart 88, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at River Ridge Apartments, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Harcourt, with Pastor Karen Young officiating. Burial will be at Lost Grove Township Cemetery, near Harcourt. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
Pauline is survived by her children, Juline Traster (Steve) of Callender, Judith Eslick (Roger) of Dayton, Jean Stewart Nagel of Derby, KS, Edward Stewart (Becky) of Gowrie, Joanne Saxton (Carl) of Somers, Lloyd Stewart (Loree) of Palm Grove, Janet Fricke (Jim) of Republic, MO, Willard Stewart (April) of Harcourt, Roger Stewart (Janet) of Maxwell, IA, Jeralyn Meffert (Bruce) of Auxvasse, MO; thirty-four grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2010; granddaughter Aimee Schreiber; parents, Wesley and Mabel (Lundberg) Swanson; and sisters, Edith Swanson and Lorena Fast.
Pauline Christine Swanson Stewart was born November 6, 1924 and graduated from Harcourt High School. She attended Cosmetology School in Fort Dodge, and also worked in Fort Dodge. On February 6, 1948 she was united in marriage to Donald L. Stewart. They farmed northwest of Harcourt, until retiring in 1989. Pauline also did cake decorating. The couple moved to the Savage Addition, south of Fort Dodge. Pauline was a member of the United Methodist Church, Harcourt, UMW, and Fantastic Frosters Cake Decorating Club. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, making Swedish rye bread, and family activities.
