HESSTON, Kan. - The No. 9 (NJCAA Div. II) Iowa Central baseball team earned a 5-3 victory over Hesston (Kan.) on Wednesday afternoon.
Dawson Porter, Dalton Parrott and Tyler Peyton all contributed three hits for the Tritons (11-1 overall).
Porter also drove in five, while Parrott scored three times. Peyton added two runs and a pair of stolen bases.
"(Hesston) played much better (yesterday), so we had to grind one out," ICCC head coach Rick Pederson said. "Porter came through with a big two-run single for us in the top of the ninth."
Tyler Cooklin (1-0) posted the win on the mound for Iowa Central, which extended its win streak to nine straight games. Nate Steger worked a scoreless inning for his first save of the season.
Next action for the Tritons is Saturday at Metropolitan. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. in Kansas City (Mo.).
