ALGONA - The 31st annual St. Patrick's Day parade will begin at 4 p.m. March 17. Participants will gather in the east parking lot of American Marine, 522 E. State St. before the parade begins. The parade will go west on State Street past the courthouse to Hall Street. It will turn north on Hall Street and on to Call Street to City Hall. Everyone is invited to join the parade.

After the parade there will be a reception at Pep's, 19 E. State St. There will be no charge for the food and provided beverages, but a freewill offering will be taken. Participants are invited to bring snacks and hor d'oeuvres.

Colleen Hegarty of Algona will be grand marshall for the parade. Hegarty can trace her roots back to David and Mary Foley Hegarty who came to America from Rath Cormick, Ireland, in 1847.
