Police tape blocks off the entrance to the Pasquale’s Restaurant in Humboldt Thursday morning.
The restaurant had likely only been closed a short time when the fire occurred. The Pasquale's Facebook page listed the store's hours as being open until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday evenings.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. However, the building's interior suffered major smoke and fire damage.
According to Humboldt Fire Chief Tony Hosford, the fire appears to have started when a fan shorted out, igniting cardboard and paper.
No further information regarding the fire has been made available and phone calls to possible owners were not returned Thursday afternoon.
