HUMBOLDT - The Humboldt City Council approved the 2013-2014 proposed city budget Monday.

The budget also includes a 2 percent cost of living salary increase for city employees, 1.5 percent increase for police, and a 3 percent increase for the city administrator.
"We've worked really hard to build up the general fund. I think that's an area of need for the city," City Administrator Aaron Burnett said. "The general fund is getting back to a position where the city can be a little more aggressive with projects and addressing some capital projects that might have been delayed."
