A man accused of attempted murder in an attack on a woman he was once married to will next appear in court next week.
Larry D. Crawford, 43, of Fort Dodge, had his preliminary hearing scheduled for March 14.
In addition to the hearing, Magistrate William Thatcher also issued a no-contact order between Crawford and the woman he allegedly tried to kill, Jolene Crawford, 39, of Fort Dodge.
Jolene Crawford remained in a Des Moines area hospital in critical condition Monday, according to Iowa Health Spokeswoman Amy Varcoe.
Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody said Larry Crawford was arrested on Saturday after officers responded to 339 Loomis Ave. after an assault was reported. When they arrived, they found Jolene Crawford unconscious in her bedroom.
After being treated for blunt force trauma at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Jolene Crawford was airlifted to Des Moines.
Iowa Courts Online records indicate the Crawfords were married at one point, but divorced in March 2007.
Carmody said the Crawfords' current relationship is not clear.
Larry Crawford is being held in the Webster County Jail on $1 million bond.
