Boy Scout Troop 588 of Fort Dodge took first place at the Klondike Derby at Camp Mitigwa near Boone on Feb. 9, beating out more than 20 other teams.
Teams were judged on fire building, outdoor cooking, orienteering (using a compass to find different points on a map), pioneering (using ropes to lash together poles to build a structure), building an emergency shelter, knot tying, and other scouting skills.
Team members are Landon Hughett, Zach Benjamin, and Allen LaVanway.
