The Fort Dodge Area Symphony presents its third concert of the season, "Doubley Dvorak!" at 3 p.m. today at the Phillips Middle School auditorium, 1015 Fifth Ave. N. Admission is by season membership or tickets at the door: adults $10, students $6.

The concert will feature compositions by Antonin Dvorak, the Czech-born musician who visited Iowa in the summer of 1893. The concert opens with Dvorak's Slavonic Dances No. 1, which were written in 1978 for four-hand piano, according to program notes provided by Scott Johnston.

Second is Edouard Lalo's Cello Concerto, a solo performed by Ashley Sandor Sidon, cello professor at Drake University.

The performance closes with the Dvorak Symphony, No. 8, which contains wamth and prayerful themes which remind the audience that Dvorak was a church organist for many years, according to Johnston. The third movement includes a waltz and a Bohemian folk dance, then returns to the waltz. A trumpet fanfare opens the grandeur finale.
