SAC CITY - A monthlong investigation has led to the arrest of two people on drug charges.

Dustin D. Daggett, 30, and Rainbow K. Pattison, 31, of Sac City, were arrested on Wednesday. Both were charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of neglect on a dependent person.

Sac City Police Chief John Thomsen said officers searched the house at 107 N. Seventh St. shortly after noon Wednesday. Thomsen said the search was connected to a monthlong investigation.

Officers found remnants of at least 50 meth labs inside the home.

Officer Stacey Carlson said there were children in the house when officers conducted the search.

"That's why they were charged with neglect," he said. "I believe that's a more serious offense than child abuse."

The Iowa Code states that neglect of a dependent person is a Class C felony, while child endangerment is an aggravated misdemeanor.

Carlson said more charges are expected to be filed, though he wasn't sure when that was going to happen.

"I'll be talking with the owner of the property and the county attorney about some additional charges," he said Friday. "Those will likely be filed today."

Both Daggett and Pattison were ordered held on over $100,000 bond each, according to Carlson.

As of Friday afternoon, both remained in the Sac County Jail.
