Hillary Tyler, who is on trial for the murder of her newborn baby, repeatedly denied being pregnant, according to the baby's father.
However, in a phone conversation after the baby's death, Rodney Cyphers said she admitted drowning the baby.
Cyphers, the father of Tyler's baby, was the prosecution's first witness during the second day of her first-degree murder trial Tuesday in Webster County District Court.
Rodney Cyphers reacts as he testifies in Webster County District Court Tuesday morning in the first-degree murder trial of Hillary Tyler, 32, of Mulhall, Okla. Cyphers was Tyler's relationship partner at the time she accused of killing her newborn son in a room at the Super 8 in Fort Dodge.
He told the jury that Tyler instead attributed her weight gain to polyps, and repeatedly told him and family members not to talk about it.
Tyler is accused of killing the newborn baby at the Super 8, 3755 Fifth Ave. S., on Sept. 19, 2011, and has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Before the lunch recess, jurors heard testimony from the property manager at Super 8, who testified that Tyler bought a room for two nights at the Super 8 on Sept. 19 and 20, 2011. Sherry Vesterby said Tyler paid for the room in cash.
Testimony is set to continue at 1 p.m.
